March Day in Estonia
Description:
On this day they cut cattle, cooked blood sausage, brewed beer, baked barley cakes and ate to fullness. Then they played games and dressed up.
Earlier this day it was customary to distribute food to the poor. The beggars were divided into two groups: some lived by alms, others performed performances, entertaining the people, living at the expense of it. So now on this day you can see dress-ups who sing and ask for food.
