Toyla Oru Park
Estonia, Toila, Ida-Virumaa, 41702
Description:
Toyla-Oru Park is located in the vicinity of the famous Estonian resort of Toyla, famous for its ancient Roman-style baths and picturesque landscapes.
The park was laid out in 1897-1899 by St. Petersburg merchant Grigory Eliseev. Initially, the park was located around a merchant’s palace, which was considered an example of architectural art. In 1934-1940, the palace complex housed the summer residence of the head of state, but during World War II the building was completely destroyed. The park is still well preserved.
Now in the park Toyla Oru grows more than 250 species of different plants - both European and quite exotic. There is an alley of limes planted more than a hundred years ago. The attraction of the park is the restored fountains, the gazebo “Swallow’s Nest”, the pavilion of Nyamaetsa (“Witch Forest”), as well as a small park of wooden sculpture. Visits are allowed around the clock, the entrance to the park is free.
