Mount Suur-Munamägi

Suur-Munamägi, 65101 Võrumaa, Estonia

Description:

Mount Suur-Munamägi, rising 318 meters, is the highest point of the Baltic countries.

At its top is a 30 meter observation tower, erected in 1939. Its construction cost no small effort - it was used 36,000 bricks and 80 tons of cement raised to the top of Suur Munamägi.

During the war, the tower was damaged and restored only in 1955 by the efforts of the Kreuzwald Memorial Museum, which not only restored, but also modernized it. The tower was completed one floor and changed the design of the stairs.

The last restoration was carried out in 2004-3005. The tower was equipped with an elevator, additional lighting of pedestrian areas, as well as a glass cafe, which offers amazing views of the area with a radius of 50 kilometers.
