Father's Day

Description:

Finland's Father's Day has been celebrated for over 50 years
Father’s Day was first celebrated in Washington on June 19, 1910, and since then many families in America have begun to congratulate their fathers, but Father’s Day became an all-American holiday only in 1966, when President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday of June a national holiday. According to tradition, during the annual celebrations, the state and ordinary citizens rush to support low-income dads who are raising children alone.

In Finland, Father’s Day has been celebrated for over 50 years. This holiday came to the country from the United States. On this day, flags are hung, and children in schools and kindergartens prepare gifts for dads with their own hands. At home, mothers with children, cover the festive table, bake cakes or pies. Congratulations to grandparents, too. Remember on this day and those fathers of grandfathers who are no longer alive, candles are lit on the graves.
