Helsinki

Northern Art Nouveau Helsinki and its surroundings

Description:

During the four-hour tour we will get acquainted with the unique
architecture in the city and beyond. The unique style, called “Finnish Romanticism”, will surprise and delight us with familiar and little-known details. In the heart of Helsinki, we will visit an amazing hotel, similar to a troll castle. And only for you will open the veil of mystery - where does the ghost live? After driving around the city, we will admire the buildings of the turn of the century (19-20 centuries), entire streets and squares built in the northern modern style. Katajanokka Island, Eira District, Barracks Square are amazing, mysterious and unique. We will take a trip to Elfwick Manor (English Art Nouveau), located near Helsinki. Now the nature house of the satellite town of Espoo has settled in it, but ancient chandeliers, original fireplaces, with the initials of the hostess, paintings on the walls and the facade of the building itself will help to better understand the life of the Baroness of the last century. After driving a little more, we will get to a unique place for beauty. Nature and man (or rather, the architectural bureaus Geselius, Lingren, Saarinen) created a masterpiece, to admire which come from afar. Admire the landscape and admire the magnificent villa "White Lake", which houses the house-museum of the "father of Finnish Romanticism" - the famous architect Eliel Saarinen. Its interior decoration will not leave us indifferent. Furniture, accessories, wallpaper, carpets – all created by a brilliant architect and designer and his wife. Welcome to the wonderful world of Finnish romanticism – a bit naive, devoid of luxury, but unforgettable and original.
