Sveaborg Fortress City

Sveaborg, Helsinki, Finland

Description:

The fortress city of Sveaborg, located on seven rocky islands near the city of Helsinki in Finland, is famous for its impregnable bastions and is of great historical importance for the country as a whole, and therefore is under the protection of UNESCO.

Sveaborg translates as "Swedish Fortress", a former strategic facility, which was decided to build after the defeat in the Russian-Swedish war.

The pleasure of visiting the fortress will be enjoyed by history lovers, connoisseurs of military art and weapons, as well as those who simply like to visit nature. This is probably the only place in the world where there are many monuments and museums next to each other: the museum of toys, weapons, the museum of models of ships and paintings by artist Elias Martin, the museum of customs.

Also here you can visit a real submarine, which took part in the fighting of the Second World War. A wonderful view of the Baltic from the fortress just disarms. And, most interestingly, people still live here - hospitable hosts who are always welcome to tourists.
