The Bridge of Love
The bridge is located in the center of Helsinki, near the Assumption Cathedral and Market Square.
Description:
This small bridge has become a symbol of eternal love and family happiness for many residents of Helsinki.
It would have been unremarkable – ordinary square railings-enclosures, painted black, inside filled with a large grid, if not for one “but”. This large grid performs not only a protective function, but also is a kind of "canvas", on which lovers leave a reminder of their feelings - locks with initials and love vows. According to tradition, which is quite popular in Russia, the key to the castle is thrown into the water by the newlyweds, thereby consolidating their love forever.
On one of the enclosures there is a sign that reads in three languages (Finnish, Danish and English) “Bridge of Love”.
