Cathedral (former garrison church) in Sveaborg

Description:

In 1854, according to the project of the architect Konstantin Ton, a garrison church was built - the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky (on the model of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow). In 1928, the cathedral was rebuilt, becoming a Lutheran church. Since 2000, both Lutheran and Orthodox services have been held in the cathedral.

Lighthouse equipment is installed at the top of the church dome. Initially, the light for the lighthouse was given by a gas lamp, at the present time - electric.

The light is 52 meters above sea level. Four white flashes every 15 seconds. This lighthouse is active and serves both sea and air traffic.
