Gustov Art Museum
About the company:
The Art Museum is located in a gray stone castle in Finland. The building was opened after a long restoration only in April 2005.
The Art Museum was established in 1873 by Professor of Plastics Carl Gustav Estlander. The purpose of the museum was to bring aesthetics to industrial products and create educational models for students of schools of applied arts.
Each of the collections, arranged in chronological order, contains furniture, utensils, crystal and industrial products. Here are all the artists who contributed to the history of Finnish design: Gallen-Kallela, Luis Sparre, Finch, Wallgren, Siren, Alvar Aalto and many others. The museum also hosts monthly exhibitions.
The Museum of Applied Art and Design has an exhibition of art jewelry, where several dozen recognized masters from 18 countries demonstrate their mastery of the art of decorating belts.
All exhibited works were produced in 2002-2006. Especially for the exhibition, first presented a year ago in Helsinki. Each exhibit is accompanied by a "source of inspiration" and a short comment by the artist.
The exposition of the museum tells the story of the origin of Finnish national art from ancient times to the present. In addition to Finnish masters, the museum presents works by other artists, in particular from Scandinavia.
