2, Snellmaninkatu, 00170 Helsinki, Finland
About the company:
The Bank of Finland, home to the Bank Museum, is one of the oldest central banks in Europe and the world. The Bank Museum was opened recently in 2003. The Bank of Finland has been in central Helsinki for 130 years. It was designed by German architect Bonstedt in 1882, when the Grand Duchy of Finland was part of the Russian Empire.
The exposition of the Museum contains a solid collection of banknotes and coins dating back to ancient times, and also gives an idea of the development of the financial system in Finland and Europe. The exposition ends with the history of the entry of the Central Bank of Finland into the single European system and the introduction of a single European currency.
Visitors can view the museum’s collection free of charge using a guide. Excursions are conducted in three languages - Finnish, English and Swedish.
