The New Church of Sodankyl

Papintie 1, Sodankyl, Finland

Description:

In the north of Finland, in Lapland, in the homeland of Santa Claus, there is a small cozy town of Sodankul. Small one-storey houses, clean streets and quiet measured life, as well as the charm of the Northern Lights - all this Sodankul. And there are many different attractions here, and among them: Old wooden church, Museum of gold prospectors, New church.

The new church of Sodankyl was built in 1859, unlike the old wooden church, it was built exclusively from stone mined in this area. The new church is now the main church of the city. The architecture of the temple is no different from the rest of the churches of the area - a neat, small white abode, leaving with a spire directly high into the sky. Especially beautiful is the New Church of Sodankyl in the evening. The church is illuminated by several lanterns, against a dark sky it seems even more majestic.
