Museum of Snowmobiles

Varastotie 11, Lapland, Finland

About the company:

The one-of-a-kind snowmobile museum was created 10 years ago, in 1993, to collect and preserve for historical memory existing models of motosleds, starting with the very first snowmobiles created by American engineer Carl Eliason in the 20s of the twentieth century.

Now the museum has more than two hundred models of various snowmobiles, models of more than 60 manufacturers. The invention of the snowmobile for the native Finns has revolutionary significance, especially for the people of Lapland. Without a snowmobile in modern times, it is difficult to imagine life here. It replaces both the horse and the deer. Snowmobiles are used by the police, rescue services, the army. Even Santa Claus himself uses a snowmobile until Christmas, when he is replaced by a deer team!

The most interesting snowmobiles in the collection are homemade specimens. Motors attached to skis, skis connected to bicycles, there are walking snowmobiles, or snowmobiles throbbing snow! It is noteworthy that all models are active, and almost any of them you can ride on the ice, if it allows you to make weather conditions.
