Museum of Gold in Tankavaar

Gold museum, Tankavaara Gold Village, Finland

About the company:

Gold mining has been going on since ancient Egypt. It can be seen in the exhibition halls of the unique International Gold Museum in Tankavaara, located in Finland. The exposition presents both real washed samples of gold and copies of the famous world ingots. The most famous of the bars presented in the exhibition is the 72-pound “WelcomeStranger”, mined in Australia.

In the central part of the museum there are exhibits telling about gold mining in Lapland. In the age of the "gold rush" search took place on the banks of the river Ivalo-joki, after the war they moved to the banks of the river Lemmenjoki and continue today.

Near the museum there are typical for gold mines of Finland simple buildings and a bath "black". The museum holds excursions, during which you will also feel like a gold prospector. From here you can carry the real gold of Lapland washed with your own hands.
