Porvoo Old Town
Kyrkotorget 2, Porvoo, Finland
Description:
The Old Town is the city district of Porvoo, Finland.
The buildings of the Old Town date back to the second half of the XVIII century, when after the devastating fire of 1760, this part of the city was built up with new buildings designed by the architect Engel.
The layout of the Old Town remained almost unchanged. The main feature is wooden low houses of bright red-brown color along the embankment of the Porvoonjoka River.
Tourists are attracted by the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town and colorful Finnish medieval courtyards.
The Old Town is home to the Porvoo Cathedral, Finland’s third most popular church.
