Jatkyanküntill Bridge

Yatkyankyuntillya

Description:

The Jatkänküntilla Bridge was opened in 1989 in Rovaniemi, Finland. It was built across the Kemijoki River, which separated the two banks. On this river at one time carried out the rafting of the forest and on the highest rack of the bridge every night burned fire. It was a kind of lighthouse for travelers. The name of the bridge in translation means "slider candle".

The architectural project has been developed since 1983 and was built in 2 years. As a result, there were four lanes for cars, paths for cyclists and people. The length of the Jatkyanküntill bridge is 327 meters, its width is 25.5 meters, and its height is 47 meters.

Today the bridge is perfectly lit at night from two towers. You can see it from other bridges in full beauty! A walk during sunset along Yatkiankyuntill can be the most unforgettable pastime in the town of Rovaniemi.
