Small Church of Savonlinna

Olavinkatu 29, 57130 Savonlinna

Description:

The small church of Savonlinna was originally Orthodox and was built in 1846.

The church was built by the architect L.T.I. Visconti. The order for construction came from the Orthodox church parish. It was consecrated in honor of the holy prophet Zechariah and righteous Elizabeth.

In 1938, the church bought the Lutheran parish. Initially, the building wanted to demolish, but after the Cathedral of the city was destroyed by bombing during the Winter War, the church took its place for a while.
