Observation Tower of Nyasinneul

The Nyasinneula Observation Tower is located on the shore of Lake Nyasinärvi about a 15-minute walk from the city center.

Description:

The observation tower "Nyasinneula" is located on the shore of Lake Nyasiyarvi, approximately 15 minutes walk from the center of Tampere. The tower, which is part of the amusement park "Sjarkianniemi" is the highest in Scandinavia, its height is 168 meters.

At the top of the tower are observation decks and a restaurant that rotates around its axis. From the top of the tower offers a wonderful view of the city center and the surrounding area, as well as Lake Nyasiyarvi.

The idea of building the tower belongs to the former city of Erkki Lindfors. The idea came to him after a trip to the city of Kuopio, where an observation tower was built in the 1960s. Mr. Lindfors proposed to build the same, but higher. The project was implemented in 1971.

A group of builders from Hungary built the main part of the structure in record time – almost 30 days. After the completion of construction, the observation tower received the status of a symbol of the city of Tampere.

The ground floor is located 15 meters above the level of Lake Nyasinärvi, and the observation deck is located at an altitude of 120 meters from the level of the lake.

Climbing to the observation deck occurs with the help of two elevators moving at a speed of 6 meters per second. These are the fastest passenger elevators in Finland.

If necessary, you can also go down the stairs from the top of the tower. But in this case, you will have to overcome more than 700 steps.

At the top of the tower is a spotlight, the light of which informs residents about the weather for the coming day. If the spotlight shines green - it is expected to rain, if yellow - it will be clear.
