Tampere Airport
Description:
Tampere is one of the largest cities in Finland, founded in the eighteenth century on the banks of Tammerkoski. Original Finnish architecture, magnificent landscapes, mountain ranges formed by retreating glaciers, almost untouched forests and crystal lake surface make this city attractive for tourists.
Tampere Airport is seventeen kilometers from the city, near the village of Pirkkala. This is the third airport in Finland by passenger traffic, every year more than six hundred thousand passengers pass through it. The airport was opened in 1979 to replace the airport in Härmäl, which could not cope with the growing load. The length of the airport runway is two kilometers seven hundred meters. The geography of flights is very wide - Helsinki, Stockholm, Riga, Copenhagen, Bergamo, Edinburgh, London and others.
The airport is connected to Tampere by Vä inö Paunu Oy shuttle buses, and local taxi services or car rental services are also available.
