Sauna Museum

The Sauna Museum, located 25 kilometers from the Finnish city of Jyväskylä, in the community of Muurame, is the most unusual and, at the same time, the most visited Finnish museum. It is a complex of 30 saunas brought from all over the country.

Here you can see an earthen sauna, which is built above the pit and covered with a roof of peat or grass. In the sauna, the Finns in ancient times not only washed, but also dried flax, hemp, boiled malt. The sauna museum presents modern compact portable saunas, saunas-tents and saunas-barrels. All saunas have signs with descriptions.
