New capital. Government quarter
Description:
This tour is designed primarily for those guests of the city who
They are interested in modern architecture and new government buildings built after the reunification of Germany. We suggest starting at Potsdamer Platz, the site of the annual Berlinale Film Festival. This square was divided by the border between West and East Berlin, 3 sectors, the Soviet, British and the United States, connected here. In the postwar years, Potsdamer became an abandoned wasteland, which after the unification of Germany was bought by several concerns. Leading architects of the world took part in the construction of the new Berlin square. Now Potsdamer is the business and recreational center of the city. Along with administrative buildings, theaters, hotels, a museum, restaurants and cafes, you can see the first traffic light in Germany and fragments of the Berlin Wall.
From here we will go through Tiergarten Park to the monument to the Soviet Soldier Liberator, erected in November 1945. Then we go to the Reichstag and the government quarter. Here you will see the Renovated Reichstag, the office of the Chancellor, the main station, the buildings of the Bundestag. From the Reichstag to Pariserplatz, Brandenburg Gate, the legendary Adlon Hotel, the embassies of the USA, France and Great Britain, Unter den Linden, the Academy of Arts. Let's finish our tour at the Holocaust memorial.
