Kreuzberg Tower
Charlottenstrase 97A, Berlin, Germany
Description:
The Kreuzberg Tower, located in the German capital, Berlin, was built in 1984 as part of the International Construction Exhibition and is considered one of the masterpieces of urban architecture. The tower of 14 floors and two adjoining wings according to the plan of architect John Haydek had to resemble a butterfly in shape, which was greatly facilitated by an unusual decision in the design of the roof.
The gray-green postmodern building was built as part of the city’s social housing plan. It has 55 apartments. The simple and clear geometric shapes of the Kreuzberg tower are the object of study for future Berlin students.
