Trept Park

Berlin, Germany

Description:

Treptow Park is located in the former garden of Johann Boucher. Previously, trees were planted here in geometric order, but in 1876, according to the project of the director of city gardens Johann Mayer, a full-fledged park was laid out here. After the completion of all the works, which were spent half a million marks, Treptow Park became the first national park, always open to citizens.

In the center of the park there is a large meadow, in the center of which a monument to the Liberator Warrior is installed on a special hill. It appeared here in 1946 near the burial place of more than five thousand Soviet soldiers who died in World War II. The monument depicts a real war hero, Sergeant Nikolai Masalov, who saved a German girl.

In different parts of the park there is a garden of sunflowers and rose gardens for 25 thousand rose bushes. In the center there is a fountain, and along the paths there are sculptures. In memory of the author of the park project, his bust is also installed here. The park is located on the bank of the river and it has its own pier for pleasure ships.
