Sculpture "Big Divided Oval: Butterfly"

John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin, Germany

Description:

The sculpture “Big Divided Oval: Butterfly” is a unique exhibit of Berlin, installed in 1987 in front of the facade of the House of Culture of the Peoples of the World, the former Congress Center. The figure was created by the great talented artist and sculptor Henry Moore in 1984 in honor of the 750th anniversary of Berlin.

The exhibit was cast in the foundry of Herman Noak, where in 2010 he was taken for restoration. Over the years, he lost his former appearance, because of which he was sent to the workshop, where he was applied a new coating and polished. The sculpture "Big Divided Oval: Butterfly" weighs about 10 tons and decorates the facade of the House of Culture. Today it hosts various exhibitions, lectures, film screenings, conferences, dance and theatrical performances.

Henry Moore, in addition to this exhibit, created a large number of famous figures, which are now in the most famous museums in the world.
