Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts

Matth & Auml ikirchplatz 10785, Berlin, Germany

About the company:

The Museum of Decorative Arts is one of the oldest museums of its kind in Germany. Here is collected, perhaps, the most representative collection in the country of objects and examples of applied art by various master craftsmen. The premises of the museum are based in two places: in the Kulturforum and Kopenik Castle.

The exhibits on display in the museum cover all styles and eras in the history of art, from post-antique to the present day. What is not there: fabrics and articles of clothing, tapestries, furniture, vessels made of glass, enamel, porcelain, silver and gold. It is very interesting to trace how over time – from antiquity to the present – the ideas about the beauty and functionality of objects, reflected in collectible exhibits, changed.

Many of the items displayed here have some value. Church ministers gave something to the museum, representatives of the royal court and the aristocracy.
