Lipstick Museum
Helmstedter Strase 16, 10717 Berlin Wilmersdorf
About the company:
The Lipstick Museum, recently opened in Berlin, is a whole cultural complex dedicated entirely to this eternal attribute of women’s cosmetics, as well as everything that surrounds it. The initiator of the opening of such a museum was René Koch – a German cosmetologist and makeup artist, who became the owner of many awards from the beauty industry.
Koch’s interest in collecting varieties of lipstick is primarily related to his profession. This allowed Koch to replenish the collection with more and more copies. Amazing story of the emergence and subsequent development of lipstick. The origin of its prototype is associated with ancient Egypt. Representatives of the fairer sex in those days used red soil to dye their lips. And lipstick, in its usual form, first appeared in the XIX century, but was inconvenient to use, as it had a very hard composition and just wrapped in paper. Only in 1920 there is a comfortable case that allows you to push and move lipstick.
The first in the collection of René Koch, was lipstick light pink color Hildegaard Knef, a famous German actress. Over time, the collection was replenished with hundreds of lipstick from around the world. Also among them you can see such unique things as a cosmetic set from Japan of the XVIII century, or a lipstick case in the style of art deco (1925), made of enamel, covered with gilding and precious stones. All this amazing collection will tell you the story of this permanent resident of the handbag. Also, you will see 125 lip prints of celebrities (Miray Mathieu, Utte Lemper, Bonnie Tyler), showing the fashion shades of each season.
