Museum Island: Bode Museum
Am Kupfergraben 1, 10178 Berlin, Germany
About the company:
The Bode Museum is markedly different from the “neighbors” on Museum Island. Designed in a non-baroque style by Ernst von Ine, it appears as a dome above the surface of the water and is seen as a small island connecting to the city through two bridges.
Today, the museum owns three main collections: sculpture, numismatic art and a collection of Byzantine art dating from the Middle Ages and the New Times. Special attention deserves, of course, the Mint Room, which stores coins minted from the VII century BC and to the XXI century and counting more than 4000 different copies.
All expositions are made in the spirit of private collections of the big bourgeoisie and very harmoniously fit into the overall interior of the museum in such a way that you want to look not only at the exhibits, but also at the surrounding environment. Art objects are accompanied by marble arches, fireplaces, portals, ornate stairs and painted ceilings.
