Museum Island: Pergamon Museum

Am Lustgarten, 10178 Berlin, Germany

About the company:

The Pergamon Museum was built from the sketches of Alfred Messel by Ludwig Hoffmann Switchen during 1910-1930. The museum housed significant finds of excavations, including the frieze of the Pergamon altar. However, the precarious foundation of the building soon caused damage to the building, so it had to be demolished before the outbreak of World War I.

The modern, larger Pergamon Museum was conceived as three wings - three museums: the Collection of Classical Antiquities, the Middle East and the Museum of Islamic Art. Having purchased the priceless pearls of archaeology - the Pergamon Altar, the Market Gate from Miletus, the Ishtar Gate and the Procession Road, the museum has achieved world recognition. And in 2011, he got another curiosity - a panorama of Pergamum, creating a full effect of presence. In the room height of 24 meters and length of 103 completely reconstructed the life of the ancient Pergamians - lively trade in the market, in the distance you can see the library, walk the townspeople. Impressions add various special effects: sunset and sunrise, the hum of the street, people's talk.
