Museum Island: Old National Gallery
Am Lustgarten, 10178 Berlin, Germany
About the company:
Berlin National Gallery was founded about a century and a half ago and has the richest collection of works of art in Germany. The entire collection of the gallery is located in several detached buildings and is divided into time periods: in the Old National Gallery - art of the XIX century, in the New Gallery - of the XX century, and in the former building of the Gambura station there are exhibitions of modern art.
The old National Gallery stores paintings of various directions: from classicism to modernism, but it is known primarily for its chic collection of impressionism of the XIX century. These are the works of Edward Manet, one of the founders of impressionism, Paul Cezanne and many others.
Among the authors of other trends, the most interesting are the works of Schinkel, Van Gogh, Menzel, Lieberman, and this is not the entire list.
During World War II, the gallery's foundation suffered greatly at the hands of the Nazis. Many canvases were irretrievably lost or could not be restored, but what is still stored in the museum, everyone should see, so all tourists visiting Berlin, strive to visit the Old National Gallery.
