Dresden and Moritzburg
Description:
I invite you on an interesting trip to the most visited places of Saxony: the modern capital of Saxony - the legendary city of Dresden and one of the most beautiful castles of this land - Moritzburg Castle.
Dresden is a phoenix-like city reborn from the ashes. After the bombing of 1945, the old part of Dresden was almost completely destroyed. But soon work began on the restoration of the city using the fragments that were saved. And today Dresden pleases visitors with its unsurpassed architectural monuments, the richest collections of museum collections.
Moritzburg Castle is considered to be hunting, because for these purposes it was built in the XVI century by the Elector of Saxony and was named after him. But much later he acquired luxury and gloss, not characteristic of the original purpose. It was during the reign in Saxony of the all-powerful Augustus the Strong Friend, a contemporary and mentor of Peter the Great. Then, still a young ruler, passionately fascinated by a social beauty and wanting to impress her, he ordered to urgently rebuild the castle into a luxurious love nest. Their name was Aurora von Koenigsmarck. This is how contemporaries describe the first visit to this castle by the ruler’s favorite: When she came there surrounded by the most beautiful court ladies dressed as Amazons, she saw, to her surprise, that a palace appeared near the nearby forest, which had not been here until recently. At lunch, they enjoyed exquisite food, then took part in a deer hunt, a boat trip with music. In the evening, they watched the play “Psyche and its entertainments”. At dinner, Aurora found a bouquet of diamonds, rubies, smaragds and pearls on her plate, and then she and August opened the ball. In the midst of the fun, the lovers suddenly disappeared. The gallant Elector led her into the bedroom with a magnificent bed: "Here you are the real queen, and whatever great lord I may be, I shall be but your slave." This is how one of the most famous novels, the most famous hanger of his century, began. The fruit of this novel was not only a beautiful Baroque castle, but also one of the many and most famous bastards of the Elector. In honor of the love nest, Aurora named her son, like the first builder of the castle, Moritz of Saxony. Fate will make this man the French marshal and ancestor of the writer George Sand. Well, the castle remained rather a country "Palace of Amusements" and saw many more romantic stories. One of these stories will be filmed in this castle fairy tale film “Three nuts for Cinderella”. During the visit, you will even have the opportunity to try on the same shoe. The beauty of this castle, its French garden and the surrounding nature.
