What to see in Dresden

Dresden is a city with a rich history and unique atmosphere, stretching along the Elbe River and is the capital of Saxony. Its appearance is formed by Baroque architecture and modern restored quarters, there is a combination of royal luxury and cozy provincial life. With a population of about half a million people, Dresden is often referred to as Florence on the Elbe, and walks through its streets give an impression of European classics and lively urban energy.

Manufactures and facilities

Man-made sights of the city are striking in diversity: Frauenkirche with a restored dome, Dresden Castle-Residence and Palace Church, the Japanese Palace with museums, as well as the palaces of Kosel, Secundogenitur and Albrechtsberg. The main city symbols are the bridge of Augustus and Augustus Bruquet, the terrace of Bruhl or the Balcony of Europe with a panorama of the Elbe, the equestrian statue of the Golden Rider and monuments to Augustus I and Gottfried Semper. Notice the theatre square, the new town hall, historic churches and original city fountains such as the Quekbrunnen and Cholera Fountain.

Natural attractions and places

The natural corners around Dresden are no less impressive: the Grand Garden and Botanical Garden offer tranquil alleys and plant collections in the city itself, and in the vicinity lies Saxon Switzerland with a national park, Bastay cliffs and picturesque canyons of the Elbe River. For history lovers and panoramas, it is worth visiting Moritzburg Castle and the Königstein Fortress, as well as climbing to such natural peaks as Mount Kotmar. The Elbe embankment and local parks create wonderful routes for hiking and cycling.

Build routes and visit interesting places

On our site you can see all the described sights on an interactive map: short texts will tell about the history of each place, photos will help you choose what to see first, and a built-in route planner will allow you to pave the optimal path to the selected points. Filters on the topic and time of visit will help create a personal route, and the saved plan can be printed or saved in the phone for easy navigation around the city.

You can explore Dresden on your own, following the paved route and enjoying the atmosphere, or book guided tours with local guides that bring to life stories of kings, architects and urban legends. Local guides will suggest the best angles for photos, tell little-known facts and offer themed walks - from Baroque architecture to the natural trails of Saxon Switzerland.

Come to Dresden to discover the wealth of its attractions, experience the history and enjoy nature on the banks of the Elbe. Plan a trip, collect your routes and go to meet new discoveries - the city is ready to give both large monuments and quiet corners for leisurely walks.
