The Blue Wonder Bridge
Blaues Wunder, Dresden, Germany
Description:
The Blue Miracle Bridge, located in the German city of Dresden, was built in 1891-1893 across the Elbe River and connects two districts of the city - Blazewitz and Loschwitz. The official name of the bridge is Loshvitsky Bridge, but among locals and tourists it was called “Blue Miracle” for its color and unusual appearance. The bridge is built of metal structures and has two supports on the banks of the river.
Now the bridge is 280 meters long and 12 meters wide has a carriageway and pedestrian sidewalks, built in 1935. Until 1986, tramways used to run across the bridge. According to experts, by 2027 the bridge may collapse due to wear of structures. Until then, the city must decide its fate. Perhaps the bridge will be demolished.
