Bastay Park

Ziegenruckenstra ß e, 01848 Hohnstein, Germany

Description:

Bastay National Park consists of the Bastay cliffs located in a picturesque region of Germany called "Saxon Switzerland". These rocks rise over the Elbe almost 200 meters.

Previously, sandstone rocks were used for defensive purposes. Even the castle-fortress Nouraten was built. But soon it was abandoned and the castle collapsed.

Now in the rocks built a bridge, thrown over a hundred-meter gorge. Through the bridge you can reach the ancient fortress. Also in this natural park there are many marked hiking trails, and interesting expositions are exhibited in the fortress.

In the middle of the park is an artificial lake Amsel. Near the lake is the Amselfall waterfall, near which there is a cafe. The trail from the lake and the waterfall leads tourists to the cliff, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area.
