The Palace of Secondogenitur
Description:
The Palace of Secondogenitur is a unique beige-colored building located next to the Elbe.
The palace building was built in the 1890s on the site of the Brühl Library. The author of the project is court architect Gustav Frölich. The narrow two-storey structure is designed in the neo-Baroque style. The exterior of the building contrasts with neighboring buildings in its style and size. The building is richly decorated with sculptures and a luxurious portico. The roof has the appearance of a curved attic with a copper coating. The windows of the building are decorated with ornaments that resemble climbing plants. The portal is framed by Ionic columns.
During the Second World War, the palace building was completely destroyed, but in the 1960s it was restored. Since 1964, a luxurious restaurant has been housed in the former palace.
