River Elba
Description:
The Elbe is a 1,165-kilometer long river that flows across Germany and the Czech Republic.
In Dresden, the area with the Elbe (Dresden Valley) is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The valley is a bay meadow 100 meters wide, which was not touched by the construction.
The river originates in the Czech Republic and flows into the North Sea. For a long time, the Elbe was considered contaminated, but after restoration work, the state of the river has improved significantly.
In German literature you can find the second name of Dresden - the poetic name "Florence on the Elbe" - because the beautiful buildings standing on the water, acquire even more charm and romance.
Tour boats and yachts are constantly plying along the river.
