Dresden

Day trip to Dresden

Description:

Dresden is the German Baroque capital. The Elector of Saxony, Augustus the Strong, and his son spent the entire Saxon treasury on their architectural fantasies and collection of paintings, as a result of which Saxony ceased to be any influential European power, but the collection of works of art and the architectural complex of Dresden has no equal to this day. Dresden is not just the Dresden Art Gallery. This is the most bizarre Baroque building in the world - Zwinger, this is the second largest porcelain museum, the Armoury, this is a huge residence of the Electors of Saxony, built over three centuries, this is a wide Elbe, above which rises the embankment - Brühl's terrace, rightfully bearing the nickname "balcony of Europe". Dresden is an ancient wheeled steamboat, the Dixieland Festival in May and one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany in December. Surviving a targeted bombing in the spring of 1945, at the beginning of the XXI century, Dresden, like a phoenix bird, rose from the ruins in its former brilliance.
