German Museum of Hygiene
About the company:
The German Museum of Hygiene, also known as the Human Museum, was founded in 1912 by German entrepreneur Karl August Lingner. Initially, it was not a museum, but a folk hygiene training center, whose task was to improve the health of the poor.
Now the expositions of the museum are devoted to hygiene, health, anatomy and medicine, and the most popular is the hall “Glass Man”, depicting a person in modern sciences. In the hall are exhibited all kinds of glass figures, in which the press of a button can highlight certain organs, models of the human body and wax figures and body parts. Also in the museum there are permanent exhibitions “Live and die”, “Eat and drink”, “Sexuality”, “Movement”, “Remember”. Think. Learn.
In 2001, the museum was listed in the Blue Book, a list of the most important national cultural institutions in East Germany.
