The Military History Museum of the German Armed Forces is one of the two largest German military museums located in Dresden, in the Albertstadt urban district.
The expositions of the museum represent the development of military equipment in German-speaking countries, from antiquity to the present. The museum has more than one million exhibits, ranging from buttons and insignia to heavy armored vehicles and aviation.
Among the most interesting exhibits of the museum are the first German submarine Brandtaucher, built in 1850 according to the project of Wilhelm Bauer, the lander of the Soyuz-29 spacecraft, on which the first German cosmonaut Sigmund Jen returned from space.
