Fort of Prince Constantine the Great

Fort of Prince Constantine the Great is a majestic fortress, built, like most of the neighboring forts, in the 20s of the XIX century. The fort was built on the site of the monastery of the Order of Cartesians and named in honor of Prince Constantine - brother of Emperor Alexander I. It was part of the system of city defenses.

The fort with powerful walls has the shape of an irregular polygon and is located on a hill, under which, by the way, there is an underground tunnel to the railway station. The fortress was not destroyed during the Second World War, there lived for some time people whose houses were destroyed in the bombing. Now the fortress is open to visitors all year round, there are various excursions.
