Description:
The new palace is a historical landmark of Meersburg. Until 1803 it was the residence of the prince-bishops of Constanta. The modern name of the building was given in accordance with the presence of the Old Palace. Designed in the Rococo style by architect Franz Anton Bagnato. Today, the castle houses a museum that hosts temporary exhibitions of artists, a small but fascinating gallery with paintings by local painters, as well as the chambers of bishops.
The modern appearance of the castle acquired after the restructuring of 1762, as a result of which the windows of the northern facade were expanded and artistically transformed, and the external grand staircase received its adjustment in the style of trompely. The inner grand staircase leads to the princely chambers of the bishops, located on the second floor. On one of the small terraces there is a tea pavilion, which has the shape of an oval, where the inscription in Latin letters is preserved to this day, which means “All has its time”.
