Lake Charlotten

Charlottenburger Ring 27A, Bad Iburg, Germany

Description:

Charlotten Lake is an artificial reservoir in Bad Iburg City Park. The pond was created in June 1932 and has a bizarre shape resembling a blot. The lake is located at the foot of the so-called “castle” mountain, on which a medieval castle and an ancient monastery rise.

On the site of the lake there was a small pond, and near it - a mill, which, by the way, has been preserved and used for gastronomic purposes.

The lake is named after one of the owners of the castle - Prussian Queen Charlotte. Actually, the name of the lake is translated as "Lake Charlotte". By the way, the pond is very popular among lovers of skating, as it easily freezes, and because of its shallow depth is not dangerous, even if the ice cracks.
