About the company:

Thanks to the written documents preserved from ancient times, archaeologists managed to make a considerable number of truly outstanding discoveries. One of the events studied in this way was the battle, as a result of which German troops led by Arminius defeated three Roman legions led by Quintilius Varus. This happened in the Teutoburg forest, part of the territory of modern Lower Saxony, in the ninth year of the new era.

The treasure hunter Tony Clann from an early age was literally fascinated by the works of Roman authors, among whom were Tacitus, Dion Cassius, Suetonius and many others. After reading the ancient texts, the enthusiastic Englishman spent months with a metal detector around the site of the alleged battle. In 1987, when he explored the hill of Calcrise, luck was on his side - Roman coins and other artifacts from the reign of Octavian Augustus were found.

After the amazing find, professional archaeological research began, as a result of which scientists were able to find not only numerous artifacts, but also mass graves of Roman legionnaires, fragments of defensive structures, weapons, as well as the famous mask of the rider. In 2002, the materials obtained from the excavations were presented at the first exhibition, and in 2009 a museum and a park opened. Ironically, the exhibition dedicated to the Battle of Teutoburg Forest opened exactly two thousand years after that event. Research at the battle site is ongoing and the museum's holdings are regularly replenished with new exhibits.
