Zeelturm Tower in Ulm

Heimstra ß e, Ulm 89073, Germany

Description:

Seelturm Tower is located in Ulm, Germany. It got its name from the Seelhaus house, which was located behind the ancient city wall of the Auf dem Kreuz quarter, which is filled with ancient buildings and ancient architecture. The house itself was destroyed during the war, but the wall and tower adorn the district of Ulm to this day.

Fans of antiquity will not be able to pass by the old quarter, where the unique aura of antiquity and history hovers everywhere. The height of the Seelturm is 20 meters, which in past centuries was considered a significant height. Since the XIV-XV centuries, the tower was used to pump water, and if the authorities put a ban on the opening of the gate, then for a long time Ulm was provided with water. In the construction of the tower, intelligent and reasonable builders used not only standard materials. For water storage tanks were made of oak and copper was used for lining. Thanks to such materials, the water remained clean and disinfected, as oak produces phytoncides that disinfect water and prevent the development of diseases.

After the war, many buildings of unique beauty were destroyed, but Zeelturm, despite its “age”, is still pleasing to the eye and is a must-see on the tourist route.
