Pantocrator and northeast Corfu Island
Description:
This tour will be dedicated to the most picturesque and memorable views of the island of Corfu. We will climb to a bird's eye view and descend to the sea, cross the island through the pass and pass traditional villages, moving along the east coast from north to south.
Our journey will begin with an overview of the northeast coast. We will climb to the highest point of the island - Mount Pantokrator (906 m), go down through the mountain pass with numerous turns to the coast, pass through numerous olive groves and the oldest mountain villages, make a stop in the convent - the hesychastirium of Pantokrator Almighty "Camarela", where we can quench thirst with the purest water from the holy spring and buy olive oil and wine produced by the sisters of the monastery. We will visit the village of Kassiopi with its Byzantine fortress and the Temple of the Virgin Kassiopitra, which houses the miraculous Icon of the Virgin. It was in this Temple at the icon of the Virgin in 1530 that the miracle of the return of sight to the innocently accused boy Stephen occurred, after which, in honor of this miracle, numerous temples and monasteries were built on Corfu and mainland Greece.
Then our way will run through the most popular and picturesque areas of the island: Calami - where we will see the famous "White House", in which the family of the famous English naturalist writer J. Durrell lived for some time. Stop at a point where the distance from the Greek coast to Albania is only 3 km. We will pass through the areas of Barbati - the Corfiot Riviera, with its crystal clear waters and a large pebble beach, Ipsos - with its noisy discos and bars, and return to the starting point of our journey.
During the trip, we will stop for coffee and lunch, if necessary, we can buy souvenirs, or, having adjusted the program, make a stop for swimming.
