Temple River

Khrami River, Georgia

Description:

The Temple River is the feeding lake Ritsa, which originates from a mountain lake in southern Georgia and flows into the Black Sea near the Abkhazian city of Sukhumi. The temples are also the source of the Bzyb River, which flows into the Black Sea in the Sochi region. The history of the Temple is as interesting as all the stories on earth.

But what do we know about her?

The first mention of the river dates back to the XVII century. Then the temples were called the river Zhinvis, which translated from Georgian means “beautiful”, “fine”. There is a legend that the name of the river is associated with two twin brothers who, according to legend, came down from the mountains and settled in this area. One brother became a king and the other a shepherd. The king often came to the lake, and liked to sit on the shore, watching the sunset. Here he saw a beautiful girl who was weaving fish nets. He loved her and asked her to marry him. But the girl did not know him, so she refused. She has since become sad. She told him about her beauty and asked him for help. In exchange for help, she gave him her nets. So the brothers became married. After that, the temples became known as the Tsagoti River, or “silver”, because there flows water from silver springs.
