Day of Croatian Diplomacy
Description:
On June 7, 879, Pope John III sent a letter to “the dear son of Branimir, the Croatian bishop Theodosius, the Croatian priesthood and the Croats,” in which he approved and promised to defend Croatian political strategy. With this letter, the pope responded to a previous request from Knez Branimir and blessed "Kneza, the Croatian people and the Croatian state."
According to the international law of the time, the concept of his universal domination and his right to recognize the legitimacy of governments and rulers, this act meant the recognition of Knez Branimir as the legitimate ruler and Croatia as an independent state.
This was the reason to declare June 7 as Croatian Diplomacy Day.
