New Year

Description:

New Year's fireworks
The first day of the New Year is celebrated in Croatia. As in most countries of the world, the holiday begins on the evening of December 31, fireworks and folk festivals are arranged in the largest city squares. Ten seconds before the New Year, rockets are launched.

In Croatia, December 31 is called Silvestrovo or Old Year. On this day, people go to church for a mass of praise.

The New Year itself is not rich in its own customs, so lately they repeat Christmas: give water, jelly and apples. In the Croatian capital Zagreb, the largest festival is held on the square of Ban Josip Jelačić.
