Excursion to Zagreb

Description:

Welcome to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia!

I've been working in Zagreb since about 15:11. 15:04. So when in Zagreb the most interesting!

The Christmas market on the main square has already opened, the tree is lit, smells of New Year and wine with cinnamon and cloves. It smells like homemade cookies, but you don’t! Throughout December and January, there is a traditional Christmas market and everything is open-air. For several years, the zagreb will become the winner in the framework of the European Best Christmas Market award. It's just necessary to see and try Zagreb baked rods, taste similar to dumplings with salted cottage cheese. Zagorje next to Zagreb is a magical land on the hills where Josip Broz Tito was born. They are made of dough, which rolls out very thinly, and the best, legendary, are in the cafe "Esplanade". The Esplanade Hotel was opened in 1925 because of the popular Orient Express, which passed through our city. Under the fabulous sky, you should try old recipes of various soups, chobanac (spicy goulash) or fish paprikash with homemade pasta, cutlets or a basin (meat and potatoes are stewed in wine sauce in a flat boiler). You can see it all on the streets of Zagreb. Croatian wine and beer should be tasted. Under the fabulous sky and ice rink, an area of 800 square meters. But Zagreb is always beautiful, especially in spring and autumn. In the spring, it is drowned in the flowering of trees, in the city you can meet real historical figures in national costumes (Tourist Bureau of Zagreb tries to make tourists more interesting) and the ceremony of changing the guard on horses, which leaves a good impression. As soon as these national costumes look stylish! Did you know that Croatian soldiers invented a tie? We will. Walking around the city you can listen to summer evening concerts and enjoy. Come here!

First, look at the lower part of the city, its main square. The square of Ban Josip Jelačić and we will see why the city was even called Zagreb. Then the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Christ is waiting for us - the only Orthodox church in Zagreb with a chic iconostasis. Take a photo with the monument of Nikola Tesla and go further to the state theater and the two most important sculptures of Zagreb. We walk along the main street - Ilica and on the funicular in 50 seconds we will find ourselves in the Upper Town, where the Cathedral and the most fun Dolatz market await us. It is here that you can buy a variety of souvenirs of the city of Zagreb - six umbrellas and lyceum (traditionally multi-colored gingerbread made of honey dough in the shape of a heart). After St. Mark’s Square and the Lotrščák Tower, we will return through the Stone Gate to see the symbol of the city – the icon of St. Mary and her altar. Nearby is the oldest pharmacy, opened in 1355. Who worked there and who else lived in Zagreb? Then we walk near St. George across Radichev Street and see the Blood Bridge.
At the end, we are waiting for the picturesque Tkalchicheva street where we will drink a glass of dark beer - King Tomislav, Chernoye Karlovachko or Dark Velebitsko.
