Captol Square

Kaptol ulica 10000, Zagreb Croatia

Description:

Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is divided into two parts - Upper and Lower Town.

Let's talk about the Lower City, namely Captol Square. Kaptol is the heart and religious center of Zagreb. The square and its Baroque buildings have been preserved since the Middle Ages. The main attractions that attract tourists are the Cathedral of the Ascension of St. George. The Virgin Mary (Cathedral) and the Baroque Episcopal Palace.

In the center of the square is a fountain with a sculpture of the Virgin Mary and four angels. Angels represent chastity, submission, hope and faith. It is worth paying attention to the French monastery, operating since the 13th century.
