1. Shiva Temple in Ernakulam

The tour begins in one of the main Hindu temples of the city. Here, among the carved gates, stone shrines and the smell of sandalwood, you will feel the living spirituality of Kerala.

2. Kerala folklore museum

Then you will go to a museum resembling a carved wooden palace. Thousands of exhibits – masks, weapons, costumes of the Kathakali Theatre and household items – tell the story of the people of Kerala vividly and deeply.

3. The Jewish Quarter (Jew Town)

Narrow streets, antique shops, spices smelling east, and ancient facades - the atmosphere here seems to have stopped many years ago.

4. Paradesi Synagogue

In the heart of the quarter stands one of the oldest synagogues in India. Blue Chinese tiles of the XVIII century and gilded chandeliers create a truly unique atmosphere.

5. The Dutch Palace (Mattanchery Palace)

Donated by the Portuguese to the local Rajas, this palace is known for its magnificent frescoes on themes from the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. A real pearl of traditional Kerala art.

6. Church of St. Francis

One of the oldest European churches in India, founded by the Portuguese in the early XVI century. Vasco da Gama was buried here before his remains were transported to Portugal. The modest facade and quiet interior preserve the spirit of the colonial era.

7. Chinese fishing nets

On the embankment you will see the symbol of Cochin - huge fishing structures brought from China in the XIV century. Their size and unusual device impress even sophisticated travelers.

8. Kochi fort

The final point is a colorful colonial area. Portuguese churches, Dutch mansions, British embankments, art galleries and cafes create the atmosphere of a European coast transported to the tropics.
