Mount Batukau

Jalan Penatahan - Wongayagede, Penebel, Indonesia

Description:

Batukau is one of the holiest mountains of the island, as many temples have shrines dedicated to the spirit of Gunung Batukau. On the lower slopes of the mountain is the temple of Luhur Batukau, to which many pilgrims come. This temple seems very quiet, only cicadas and frogs disturb the local serene peace.

Sometimes the temple of Luhur Batukau is called the “garden temple”. Its courtyards are planted with flowering hibicus, Javanese ixora and champaca, and on three sides the temple is surrounded by forest. The dense rainforest that covers the slopes of the mountain has recently been recognized as a nature reserve. On its territory you can see a variegated variety of numerous species of birds that live in Bali.
